To thine own Self be True

We are not separate though with our eyes we look out from one perspective imagining we observe another. Our perceptions can be wrong when we imagine a life, a motivation or the happiness of another. No one goes without challenges in life and if things look great today for them, I cannot know what they have already weathered in life or what might be in their future.
Years ago, an ex-boyfriend of mine who's life I envied, he was now married with three lovely children while I remained single, said to me, "There's nothing to envy." I couldn't see what he meant. I wanted his life.
Yet I traveled round the world, climbed mountains and saw sights that today still bring me no end of pleasure in their recollection. I would not trade any of my experiences.

We each make our decisions according to our hearts. With each commitment to a path we cut away other possibilities in order to have the experiences we have chosen. This is part of the creative process of living. Not choosing we cannot live. Choosing we must let go of what we did not choose.
So I make a choice today so I may live my life according to my unique perspective and know that further along there will be other choices and opportunities. My life will look different to my friend's life but I don't know what he has had to cut away in order to have his experiences. No path is better than another, especially if we allow ourselves be guided by our own inner compass. So be at peace today with your life and gather the wisdom of your unique experiences. You have chosen and you represent one of the many variations in color and flavor that life offers. Without you, life would be lacking  and we would all feel the loss.

A Clarifying Commitee?

Confusion, muddled thinking, or even most definitely right, ego driven thinking can obscure the truth from us. Where do we turn - when the answer isn't clear?


Well, some turn to Psychics, others turn to their spouse or best friend, some become depressed and stuck and others become more forceful, bringing the sheer force of will to bear on circumstances, hopeful of gaining control of their lives. I've definitely flailed around and tried them all!

Here's another alternative I feel could have great merit. A clarifying committee! In the Quaker faith this is normal, when you are faced with a great decision. A clarifying committee is a trusted group of elders, wise people, who question the decision maker about every aspect of their decision. It is done for the purpose of the questioned one to become clear about his or her motives and to really know what their deepest and highest self desires. Her answers must be as honest and as true as they can be.

I just love this idea. I want to gather a clarifying committee. I know the trusted friends I would have on it too. It strikes me as challenging but most of all I would hope that the result would keep me true to myself, in integrity with who I am in the world, my true nature and no one else's. I want to have clarity and live authentically. Afterall its my one and only life that I am aware of, I want to live it according to the unique perspective and expression I am. No one else will do it as I do, in the way that I do and with the vision I hold. Your gifts are unique to you, the world needs what you have to give, if you dont know what that is today maybe its time to gather a clarifying committee! Or simply be your own.

Monday morning for so many comes with a groan. Back to work, weekend is over, back from out of town, or back to no work even worse! Monday morning has its own energy and meaning for everyone. If you love your job fabulous, you won the jackpot.


I have had that experience and even when I have not been overjoyed with my work I have always enjoyed that sense of purpose it brings. I enjoyed my work colleagues or seeing what challenges the new week would bring.


Whatever your experience is this week, in the range of possible work scenarios I invite you to find a purpose for your day. You have unique strengths to bring to the world, whether its being someone who likes to beautify their surroundings, or someone who is a good listener or someone who loves order and balance. No one can do the job just like you. No one sees it exactly your way or brings your vision to the world. Appreciate your unique gifts today and express them, we are all waiting for you to show yourself. Even the tiniest flower opens itself to the morning sun and offers its beauty for the glory of God. Shine today, be who you were meant to be. As they say bloom where you were planted. Monday or Wednesday, make it your day, create a good one, it is within your power and thank you for being you.
