Persistence

”Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." --Calvin Coolidge

Have you ever felt discouraged and wanted to give up? I know I have.

And it can happen so easily especially after a disappointment. I may have had my hopes up, and attached a lot of expectation to one event but it did not go according to my visualization. It can be so disheartening. I feel the universe is telling me to forget it or that my idea was no good.
And I have to weigh up my strategy or my endeavor and ask myself do I believe in it? Do I believe I have something of value to offer, am I passionate about what I do? If I can answer yes to these questions I do what the song says..."dont lose your confidence if you slip, be grateful for a pleasant trip and pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again!"

Persist, have faith, meantime do whatever lifts your spirits, till you are ready to try again.

  1. Never said a truer word Joan ( and Calvin Coolidge!)
After 30 years practicing as a professional artist I can't count the times I ve had to "pick myself up - dust myself off - and start all over again " But I believe passionately in what I do and that belief is the secret ingredient of a life of fulfillment. Trudi x
