This week is holy week for Christians everywhere.
I grew up with the dark and wonderful rituals of the run up to the death of Christ and his ressurection. I have vivid memories of lighted candle and a darkened church on Holy Thursday as we renounced the devil.
Today I no longer observe these rituals but somehow I feel the need to mark the week because I know it means so much to so many and especially my ancestors.
I like to think of the week as Wholly Week. What can I do to feel more whole and complete and balanced? Wholeness can be of the physical body, mind or spirit, and certainly a balance of all.
Where are you out of balance? Are you getting enough sleep? Are you being proactive in your relationship with the world? Speaking up might bring me to wholeness. Being quiet may complete and balance my being. We each must listen to our own truth to become whole.
I have decided to give up chocolate, sweets and coffee for the week because my body can do with a break and I need to get a health quota of sleep.
The gospels that we honor this week are only a part of the message of Jesus. As you may know I have been exploring the gospels that did not get included in the Bible, such as the Gospel of Mary, Gospel of Thomas, and Gospel of Judas. These speak of the truth that lies within and our individual connection with the Divine. All you need is already within you. What do you need to give yourself to feel that connection and wholeness?

Do not Do what You Hate!
In my recent exploration of the Gospels which were NOT in included in the bible, here are a few interesting quotes;
"Do not tell lies, and do not do what you hate; for all things are plain in the sight of heaven."
"There is light within a person of light, and it lights up the whole universe. If it does not shine, there is darkness."
"the Kingdom is inside you, and outside you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will see that it is you who are the living children of the living Father."
Gospel of Thomas (Doubting)
Judas is described as Jesus' closest friend, someone who understands Christ's true message and is singled out for special status among Jesus' disciples.
Gospel of Judas
"Every nature, every modeled form, every creature, exists in and with each other. They will dissolve again into their own proper root. For the nature of matter is dissolved into what belongs to its nature. Anyone with two ears able to hear should listen!"
"Levi answered, speaking to Peter, "Peter, you have always been a wrathful person. Now I see you contending against the woman like the Adversaries. For if the Savior made her worthy, who are you then for your part to reject her? Assuredly the Savior's knowledge of her is completely reliable. That is why he loved her more than us."
Gospel of Mary (Magdalene)

In the key passage Jesus tells Judas, "'you will exceed all of them. For you will sacrifice the man that clothes me.'"
Kasser, the translation-project leader, "Jesus says it is necessary for someone to free him finally from his human body, and he prefers that this liberation be done by a friend rather than by an enemy. So he asks Judas, who is his friend, to sell him out, to betray him. It's treason to the general public, but between Jesus and Judas it's not treachery."
“Look, you have been told everything. Lift up your eyes and look at the cloud and the light within it and the stars surrounding it. And the star that leads the way is your star." So Judas lifted up his eyes and saw the luminous cloud, and he entered it.” Gospel of Judas

Humility
"Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less."
Rick Warren
Interesting that during a recent session of Scalar Heart Connection 'humility' came up as the opposite of anxiety or worry.
It gave me pause for thought.
Is it ego then that pushes us to think we can do something about our concerns, goads us to take control, convinces us action must be taken when maybe it cannot in the moment. I imagine this is the kernel of anxiety or worry. The question comes up "What can I DO?"
Humility's question might be "What can I ALLOW?" or "What can I become open to?"
It is a softer more loving energy that creates flow rather than tension, blockage or harshness.
I have been keeping this in mind since it came to my attention and as the quote above invites, I have been attempting to think of the needs of those around me and trusting that everything is conspiring for the good. It feels healthier.
It is not what I would have thought of as humility previously, but it makes sense to me now.
What do you think?

Love is All You Need
“Love is the only human emotion that consistently generates the most productive and intelligent actions” – Humberto Maturana, Chilean Biologist
Why is it on Facebook that the posts that have animals of different species (including humans) caring for each other, get the biggest response from the public? Why am I moved to tears by acts of kindness?
Why, I believe it is because I want to know that there is good in the world, that human nature is intrinsically generous and kind, and that true unconditional love is to be found not just between parent and child but is there to be awakened in the stranger. I want to know the world is a friendly place and that I am safe in it.
So often I feel I have to protect myself, to not be vulnerable, to pretend or put on a happy and strong face. I believe I grew up to distrust the world because my parents in an effort to keep me safe taught me to be wary. I understand this motivation but I realize too that it can lead to me feeling separate and disconnected.
Recently I came to a new realization. I am very often disconnected from myself. That's not the new part, I knew that already! But can this disconnect have originated in the same cause, wariness of my human nature. If there is danger out there then there must be danger in here. As without so within! The realization that I am often at war or on the defensive with myself has given me the opportunity to practice replacing that with vulnerability and nurturing. I am playing with this idea and so far I notice I am often less tense and less hyper critical, more gentle and compassionate. I will keep you posted as to whether this leads to more productive and intelligent actions as Humberto proposes. And maybe you would like to play with this as well, it can't hurt!

Listen
Listen.
What do you hear?
Right now I hear a bus passing outside and a child turning the page of a large book.
I listen some more and I can hear a newspaper being folded and as I close my eyes to eliminate distractions I become aware of my breathing. I cant hear it but I feel it.
How often each day do we actually feel our breathing, maybe with a sigh, or a yawn.
Breathing is one incredibly powerful way to control our stress levels and consequently impact our health. And the best thing is - its free!
Listening and becoming aware of our breathing is the first step to body consciousness. So often we are unaware of our bodies. I know this has been so for me for most of my life. I am a head centered person, thoughts running me here and there and keeping me occupied for hours on end. What can I read on the internet, what can I watch on TV, find me a good book, write me a journal, who can I call...OMG it wears me out! And there's more.
Probably over 20 years ago I made my first attempt to meditate. It was a disaster! Yet I knew there was something there for me. I came back to it after a decade had passed. Slowly, slowly I began to release myself to it's benefits.
The benefits to me are the release of fear. When I sit and simply be, allowing what is, being with my body and beyond that the ether/energy/life. Imagining the universe is breathing me, I allow the knowing, that the spacious place within me is the same place I came from and the place I am going to, beyond this life. Its not a scary place of oblivion with which my ego/mind fights. It is a peace that goes beyond understanding.
Meet me there.
Listen.
Do you feel your breathing as you close your eyes.
This is the gateway.
Come on inside.

Heartfelt
"That's all any of us are; amateurs. We don't live long enough to be anything else."
Charlie Chaplain
We are half way through January, if you set resolutions for yourself I wonder where you are with them at this point? Are they long forgotten or have they evolved into something else?
Honestly I cant remember what mine were but I do remember the intention of them. At the speed at which my mind can change I decided this year just to listen to the guidance of my heart. The heart is somewhat more reliable and consistent than the mind. There are so many distractions for the monkey mind whose talent is jumping about and following threads of interest. It has its usefulness and place.
The heart on the other hand can be truer, wiser and a more gentle adviser as we navigate our lives.
I discovered a technique last year for accessing the heart wisdom, its called Scalar Heart Connection. It bypasses the mind based on the idea recently discovered that the heart has a brain and wisdom of its own that is pre-sentient. It knows before the mind. The technique can bring to light what is hidden in the subconscious and help shift our mental vibration or energy into alignment with the gentle and loving energy of the heart. Experiencing this shift for myself has brought me a great deal of peace.
I am sharing the process now having take the workshops to be listed as a Practitioner www.ScalarHeartConnection.com.
I am an amateur, a lover of bringing peace and new insights into my own life and into the lives of others. I am loving the path I find myself on through listening to my heart.
What is yours telling you?
If you would like to experience the process for yourself I am offering sessions for $45 if booked before January 31st. It is powerful, it is profound and you can read more at my website www.SpiritisTalkingtoYou.com
Wishing you a very happy and heart centered 2015.
Namaste.

Last Days of the Old
I just heard the news of the passing of an old family friend who had reached the spectacular age of 102. She let go of her body after already letting go of so much, including friends and loved ones. We all must let go of so many things along lifes road.
In these last days, of what is soon to become the old year, it is a great time to reflect on what you would consciously like to leave behind you.
Its also a great time to set intentions. Wayne Dyer wrote a beautiful book called The Power of Intention. He says the intention we set must not be self serving or material, it is more about a state of consciousness.
“ Its not about attracting what you want, but attracting what you are. You have to just be. You have to let go. You have to allow. You have to be free and make this your consciousness. Basically, what you would see is a frequency (of energy) that manifests itself through the process of giving, of allowing, of offering and of serving. It asks nothing back.”
I think this is a worthy intention; to be true to oneself, with honesty, and kindness, in reverence and consideration for all life and in service to humanity. Being in the flow of life as our unique selves, with the gifts we have to share and the blessings we give asking nothing in return but the simple joy of showing up, fully present to life. That is my intention this year, to release any efforts at forcing, or feelings of struggle, to let go of efforts to control or manipulate outcomes, to make no judgment of good or bad but to adopt a Buddhist mantra;
"Everything that happens to me is the best possible thing that can happen to me."
I know this wont always be easy when things dont go pleasantly but I do believe I can grow from every experience that comes my way and I allow this to happen. I attract what I am by letting go.
What are you intending or allowing in the New Year?
